ABSTRACT
English plays an essential role in the current era of globalization, especially in the
fields of Agribusiness and Physiotherapy which require the latest information for
the development of science and skills. English is also needed by both fields related
to communication, research collaboration, marketing, and international
cooperation. This study examined the relationship between English knowledge
and access to information related to Agribusiness and Physiotherapy, whether
having good English skills will be able to increase their knowledge more widely
than those who have lower English skills. The supporting application that was
used in this study was ChatGPT application and the research method used was
Central Tendency Measurement and Simple Linear Regression Analysis.

INTRODUCTION
Background
English plays an essential role in the current era of globalization, especially in the fields of
Agribusiness and Physiotherapy which require the latest information for the development of
science and skills. English is also needed by both fields related to communication, research
collaboration, marketing, and international cooperation.
In relation to this, the lecturer team of Universtitas Katolik De La Salle Manado consisting of a
lecturer of Electrical Engineering Study Program, a lecturer of the Physiotherapy Study
Program, a lecturer of the Agribusiness Study Program, and a lecturer of the Management

Study Program of Universitas Katolik De La Salle Manado conducted a joint research to see
the relationship between English knowledge and access to information related to
Agribusiness and Physiotherapy to answer the question whether or not having good English
skills can increase knowledge compared to those who have lower English skills.
To see the correlation between English knowledge and increasing the knowledge skills of
Physiotherapy Students and Agribusiness Students, one of the most popular artificial
intelligence applications was used, which was the ChatGPT. The research method used was
Central Tendency Measurement and Simple Linear Regression Analysis.
The research samples were students from the Physiotherapy Study Program and the
Agribusiness Study Program (1 class each). This research was assigned as one of the projects
in the course. Students were given an online pre-test, which was in the form of 1-2 short
paragraphs translated into Indonesian. Then they were asked to access one of the topics in
English and search for as much information as possible or ask the ChatGPT application in
English. Students were also asked to use the speech feature to learn language development,
for example in the Physiotherapy Study Program, students were given a topic about a good
position when working, and in the Agribusiness Study Program, students were given a topic
about good nutrition for workers. At the end of the activity, students were given an online
post-test to measure the progress achieved and see the relationship.
ChatGPT is a virtual medium that can help lecturers and students to find answers about things
they want to know, seek clarification, and get ideas related to assignments and projects.
Moreover, ChatGPT can be used to train the ability to develop English language skills. Google
was previously popular among students and teachers to search for information, but now
ChatGPT offers a better interaction feature in the form of questions and answers with more
efficient summary data output without having to sort through existing data or information.
Access to obtain information becomes better and faster.
Aim of Research
This research is first joint research between a lecturer of Management Study Program, a
lecturer of the Physiotherapy Study Program, a lecturer of the Agribusiness Study Program,
and a lecturer of the Electrical Engineering Study Program of Universitas Katolik De La Salle
in relation to English Knowledge and Information Retrieved. Using our own hard skills and
soft skills, aided with ChatGPT, we conducted basic research to see the relationship of English
ability and knowledge. It is trying to prove that someone with good English comprehension is
able to improve his knowledge widely depends on those with poor understanding. Hopefully,
this research can help the learning process in Agribusiness and Physiotherapy Study Program
especially the ability in gaining information and knowledge.
Literature Study
Research related to relationship of English knowledge and information retrieval merely has
been conducted by several researchers although in different context with what the one that
our team will do [1]-[4].
