ABSTRACT
Knowledge and information are two very important components in society, to the
extent that the term "knowledge societies" has been coined (UNESCO 2021). As part
of the processes in organizations, knowledge leads to improvements in their
development and productivity (Muñoz and Riverola, cited by Flores 2005);
therefore, they must adapt to the demands of a competitive and changing
international world. Year after year, administration, specifically those areas that
comprise it, results in different themes being developed considering administrative
practice worldwide. Considering this, an essay is carried out as a result of exploring
the research trends in administration with the goal of conducting a comparative
analysis between the current research trends in the field of administration
published in journals and the holographic cultural model proposed by Dr. Antonio
Castañeda Ríos, and in the process, verifying if the holographic cultural model is still
relevant or alternatively describing the trends that are not included in the
aforementioned model. Journals that compile research from all over the world have
been consulted to identify predominant themes, and it was found that current
trends in the field of administration agree with the general lines of research set out
in the Holographic Cultural Model. Regarding the particularities found, such themes
arise as a result of the logical evolution of time and change.
Keywords: knowledge society, trends in administration, competitive.
INTRODUCTION
In the business world, there is an aspiration to incorporate competencies in line with
environmental demands, which are key for successful performance in operations and to meet
current challenges. According to senior executives, the current state of the world and Mexico
lead companies to a constant: improving process efficiency, identifying environmental
opportunity areas, adjusting business plans to changes and phenomena of all kinds, and
incorporating technology to be part of today's transformation (The Food Tech 2023). Other
premises to observe are that the organization in its context and that of its environment must be
the most capable of acting, so situations such as outsourcing, foreign investment, supply chain,

consumer behavior, and other relevant issues such as politics applied to the markets should not
be alien to it (D ́Kuba 2023).
Something to consider when it comes to updating trends in an area of study is the incorporation
of internationalization from a competence perspective, where the development of knowledge,
competencies, skills, attitudes, and values weighs more than the organizational aspect (Gairín
2021). There is an imperative demand regarding learning: not to forget what generated it
(Padrón 2023). This leads to keeping an eye on the constants in the economy, sustained growth,
and the aspect of digitalization, along with its risks. As a result, proposals such as the
"Holographic" model developed in 1998 by Dr. Antonio Guillermo Castañeda Ríos, which
presented the predominant lines of research for Administration, have been generated.

It is necessary for administrators to have current knowledge regarding the competencies and
topics in their area. Updating on these topics may seem at first glance as if a complete "refresh"
is needed; however, it is rather about incorporating new trends and confirming the
conglomerate of previous studies that continue to lay the foundations of the field without
initially having to discard everything that is already known. To access an update of knowledge
in the areas, one can turn to different sources, one of which is where scholars publish their
