ABSTRACT
The aim of this research is to determine how workload and the perception of
organizational support impact job satisfaction, as well as how work-life balance acts
as a mediating variable in the Shared Services Function of PT Pertamina (Persero).
The research strategy employed by the author is quantitative in character, as it is
grounded in concrete, objective, quantifiable, logical, and methodical data. Because
it contains samples from every permanent employee of PT Pertamina (Persero) as
well as from the whole population of the Shared Services Function, the study's
sample is known as a saturated sample, or full population. 321 individuals make up
the entire population sample. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) is a data
analysis methodology that was employed in this work to solve the limitations of the
regression method. The Partial Least Square (PLS) software application is used in
this study's analysis to process the data. Variant Based Structural Equation
Modelling is then used to test the hypothesis and provide a viable model. The results
showed that workload had a negative and significant impact on job satisfaction in
the SS Function of PT. Pertamina (Persero). Job satisfaction with SS Function PT.
Pertamina (Persero) is positively and significantly impacted by employee
perceptions of organizational support. In SS PT Function Pertamina (Persero),
work-life balance is adversely and significantly affected by workload. The
perception of organizational support has a favorable and considerable impact on
work-life balance, as per the SS function of PT. Pertamina (Persero). Work-life
balance and job satisfaction have a somewhat positive association in SS Function
PT. Pertamina (Persero). Work-life balance makes it possible for employee
happiness at PT. Pertamina (Persero), an SS function, to be indirectly impacted by
workload. The SS function PT. Pertamina (Persero) believes that work-life balance
has an indirect effect on satisfaction through organizational support.

INTRODUCTION
Every business has human resources, which are seen as assets or resources that are most
important to the organization's short-, medium-, and long-term objectives. The absence of
exceptional human resources will produce issues for the organization as they are essential for
rationality, drive, ability, and skills. Human resources are one of the management components
that must be taken into account in order to achieve organizational goals because they are the
only ones who can engage in, plan, and carry out organizational activities. Because science is
developing at such a quick rate, businesses must have qualified workers who are experts in
their domains. This will enable businesses to progress across multiple disciplines.
In many firms today, job happiness is seen as a crucial factor in employee productivity. The
degree to which people are certain that they are successful and happy in their professions
determines their level of job satisfaction. In this situation, an individual's level of job
satisfaction is greatly influenced by the amount of work they have to do and how supportive
they feel from the company. The quantity of work and the perception of organizational support
both affect how satisfied one is with their job. The level of contentment that employees have
with the jobs they accomplish is known as job satisfaction. In the oil and gas industry, PT
Pertamina (Persero) is a state-owned company. Six distinct subholdings formed in the energy
sector are managed by PT Pertamina (Persero), including the Gas Subholding managed by PT
Pertamina Gas Negara and the Upstream Subholding managed by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi.
Refinery & Petrochemical Subholding is managed by PT Pertamina International Refinery,
while Power and EBT Subholding are both under the control of PT Pertamina Power Indonesia.
Pertamina (Persero) has been performing this crucial function for almost sixty years. The
provision of energy for the daily needs of people in Indonesia and other nations is the focus of
this responsibility. Because many of the employees at PT Pertamina (Persero) have exceptional
skills or capabilities in the oil and gas business in Indonesia and around the world, they are all
regarded as assets of the company as well as assets of the country. Therefore, in order to
promote the growth of the nation, businesses, and general welfare, it is necessary to preserve
employees' job satisfaction and work-life balance. As a division of the Business Support
Directorate, the Shared Services function offers services to several departments within PT
Pertamina (Persero), as well as to all of its subsidiaries and related businesses. These services—
SS Finance, SS Acquisition, SS Asset Management, SS ICT, and SS Human Capital—are housed in
the fifth tower of shared services (SS). Master Data Operations operations, which are converted
into complementary services that support transaction and administrative needs, provide
support for the five towers. Serving consumers by taking into account their demands, providing
value, boosting productivity, utilizing digital technologies, and facilitating a seamless transition
is the main goal of shared services. The standardized and centralized form of data processing
as well as company-proprietary technologies are benefits of sharing services. Prior studies by
Ram Paudel (2022) demonstrated that raising employee satisfaction with their work was
significantly impacted by the quantity of labor and the perception of support received. The
success of this initiative will depend on efforts to enhance workload, sense of support, and
work-life balance. at the end, this will affect job satisfaction at PT Pertamina's (Persero) Shared
Services (SS) function. The Job Satisfaction Scale of PT Pertamina (Persero) Function (SS) is
described as follows:
